July 14 - 30
[ youth play ]
We
told you about this last week and this is a reminder and a word of caution. It
seems that there is a lot of “language” and talk of sex and drugs in this play.
While we believe that these are things to be discussed with the youth in our
lives, some of you may want to consider the age and maturity of your child
before attending. There, we said it.
anythingarts.com
readers! Mention anythingarts.com when you buy your
ticket (opening week only) and save 50%!
“This Is Our Youth,” by
Kenneth Lonergan has starred the likes of Mark Ruffalo, Jake Gyllenhaal and
Anna Paquin.
(click here for details from the London run) The hard-hitting, realistic
play is about growing up in an age of temptation, drugs and rapid maturation.
The Backlot hosts this special production starring recent grads from
Booker High’s VPA program and others. Produced and directed by Ethan Weiss.
This play has special relevance to the life of youth today. Special student
discounts available. Call the Backlot for tickets at 941-363-9300. |

it has anything at all to do with this, but elephants routinely drink over 50

Sarasota News and Books to discuss her new novel of star-crossed lovers set
among the circus tents of 1932. Gruen researched the novel with help of the

[ got funny? ]
Having a fund raising event
or private party and want to entertain your guests with style?
Becky's Rejects is one of Sarasota's hottest, hippest and
funniest improv troupes. Performances combine traditional "Whose
Line is it Anyway?" comedy with a twist: music! That's right, the
four actors and pianist create an improvised musical comedy, based on
audience suggestions, right before your eyes. Not only will your guests
be talking about the great time they had, they will also benefit from
the abdominal workout and stress relief that raucous laughter generates.
Short show, long show, your place or theirs, contact
Christine
today. See them every last Wednesday of the month at the
Backlot!
