Barbara Strauss

Barbara Struass is our Featured Artist in this issue because of who she is, what she does and because we love the Sarasota Blues Fest. Why do we love the Sarasota Blues Fest? Because it’s outdoor family fun with national acts and Barbara has kept the price affordable for all... which is something that cannot be said for many entertainment events in this area! This year’s line-up includes Jake Haldenwang, All-Star Band, Moreland & Arbuckle, Tommy Castro Band, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave. and the guy who “Fooled Around and Fell in Love," Elvin Bishop.

Florida Studio Theatre presents “The Wanderers” in the FST Goldstein Cabaret. Here’s the gist, from their web: “The 1950's: bobby socks, hula hoops and street corner quartets.
From an innocent era came stunning harmonies by young guys in matching jackets. These crooners started on the street, jumped to the hops and serenaded a generation through the
50s and 60s on boardwalks and rooftops. From the Four Seasons to the Beatles with songs like "The Great Pretender," "Under the Boardwalk," and "When I'm 64." Join four guys from
the neighborhood for a celebration of the music that defined what it meant to be young." Call 941-366-9000.
