Slade Nash and Amara Cocilovo

Meet the Village of the Arts' newest newlyweds, Slade
Nash and Amara Cocilovo. Fresh back from their fossil
digging honeymoon they are hard at work in the Village
and their community. Slade runs
Artistic Eye Picture Framing and Gallery on 12th
Avenue West. He brings over a dozen years of experience
to his work and has a special knack for putting together
the perfect frame combinations to make works of art
shine. His creative approach accommodates anything from
paintings, photos, needlepoint and mirrors to sharks
teeth, coral, and just about anything two or three
dimensional. He also offers picture hanging services.
Amara serves on the board of the Artists Guild of
Manatee County, the governing body of the
Village of
the Arts, but spends a good part of her days
brainstorming to come up with creative public
programming ideas at the
South
Florida Museum where she is on staff. Think + drink
culture parties, science cafes and cinema nights are
just a few of the popular events she has been
instrumental in bringing to the community. Through her
various affiliations she has been an active member of
the Realize
Bradenton cultural planning process and serves on
the Public Art Advisory Board to the City of Bradenton’s
Downtown
Development Authority.
You can catch these two creative souls milling about the
Village of the Arts on a regular basis. In fact, they
held their
wedding and reception outdoors in the Village. Amara
mused: “What other community offers friendly artists,
yoga classes, coffee shops, restaurants, bookshops, a
fledgling farmer's market and even your own personal
potter to make your wedding dishes!”
The October ArtWalk is the kick-off of a new season in
the Village. It’s a great venue to do some early holiday
shopping. There will be numerous opening receptions at
the ArtWalk on Friday, October 2nd and Saturday, October
3rd throughout the Village. ArtWalks are the FIRST
Friday and Saturday of every month: Friday 6-9:30pm,
Saturday 11am-4pm. For those not yet familiar with the
Village, it's a community of artists living and working
together in the City of Bradenton. With about 35
artists, it's Florida’s largest art community. |
