Dragonfly
Ripple

Dragonfly
Ripple formed in 1994 as a not-so-typical cover
band. While most local (Sarasota) cover bands were
playing blues, classic and Southern rock,
Dragonfly
Ripple was performing songs by bands like Tool, Primus, Metallica, Green Day and Weezer. As the band progressed,
they started writing their own music. For the next few
years they played countless gigs and put out a CD.
Unfortunately, just as Dragonfly Ripple was hitting its
creative stride, techno, raves and ecstasy took over the
local scene. As live music venues and opportunities
died, Dragonfly Ripple decided to take its last bow. Ben
started his own business, while honing his talents as a
producer -- a really anal one. Chris kept battling on
the front lines, gigging out and moving equipment.
Meanwhile, Johnny moved his drums into his church to
start playing for a higher power. Somewhere during this
period they all got married (not to each other) and
started raising families. Growing restless (and fat!)
they decided it was time to give it another go. So here
they are, nine years later with two new all-original
CDs, "Dragonfly Ripple" and the just-released "In Search
of Harmelodious Rex." Their music sounds like a funky
hybrid of Weezer, Goo Goo Dolls and Iron Maiden ... or
so they've been told. But don't believe everything you
hear --
check it out for yourself. (bio pinched from
their website verbatim)

gardens, but is made up of various elements – the tapestry of
the various leaf shapes, the visual movement in the arching and
twisted branch, the weaving of the hanging moss or clinging
vines, the uniqueness of the flowers and plants, and the often
unobserved colors - with the potential of bringing you into a
more enlightened state of awareness and presence.” |
